Thought is free to wonder unbounded. In verbal expression it becomes cemented. It's existence given a finite shape, size and spacing determined by a linguistic system and grammar. Inside the iron cage of language thoughts become encased, defined, weighed down and compressed.

In English, we speak about language and speech largely through the metaphor of the container. We put thoughts INTO words and we get information OUT OF books. In George Lakoff's Metaphors We Live By, he delves into the different metaphors that dictate of we verbalize abstract concepts (life, love, death, language etc.).

This project demonstrates that thought does not equal language - a complex symbiotic relationship exists between the two. As best we can, we try to communicate our thoughts and ideas through a highly structured system which can and most times will fail to fully express raw human thought.
